Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, Volker Stevin Canada; the Information Security Contact Person (ISCP) is accountable for ensuring appropriate controls are in place for the security of information assets.  The ISCP safeguards information by seeing that security risks are identified, assessed and accurately reported. 


The ISCP is charged with ensuring local procedures and activities comply with all regulatory requirements and internal policies, procedures, guidelines and standards. The ISCP is the center of competence for Information Security providing an advisory services role and acting as the focal point for Information security compliance related activities and responsibilities.

 

The Ideal Candidate for this position will possess the following

  • Maintain Volker Wessels North America’s ISF and underlying policies, procedures, standards and guidelines
  • Lead the develop, maintenance and update practices of IS Strategy and the IS Program
  • Actively ensure appropriate administrative, physical and technical safeguards are in place to protect
  • Volker Wessels North America’s information assets from internal and external threats
  • Identify, introduce and implement appropriate procedures, including checks and balances, are in place to test these safeguards on a regular basis
  • Prioritize disaster recovery and emergency operating procedures by ensuring processes and practices are in place and tested on a regular basis
  • Include the Contingency and Disaster Recovery risks associated with every day workforce behavior as part of the training and education process for all supervisors and individual contributors.
  • Manage and assist in performing on-going security monitoring of information systems including assessing information security risk through qualitative risk analysis -  on a regular basis
  • Conduct functional and gap analyses to determine the extent to which key business areas and infrastructure comply with statutory and regulatory requirements
  • Educate workforce on their own accountability to IS and the support available to them
  • Establish and maintain open, honest and result focused business relationships within the team and throughout the business to influence for change management acceptance.
  • Prepare change management plan for every new initiative within the original IS Program implementation and all subsequent changes, putting the relevant effort into the level of behavior change required
  • Articulate the critical components of change management and educate management team on expectations for each of their role
  • Collaborate with internal and external customer to be the center of competence not only on the IS Program itself but also on its business dimension of change: risks, opportunities, threats, etc
  • Educate workforce on areas of vulnerability and remediation processes and tasks to minimize risk to IS                                                                                                                                            

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Information Security, or other relevant field PLUS
  • 3 years in an Information Security Leadership role
  • Recognized certification such as CISSP, CISSLP, GIAC or similar (equivalent or higher level
  • Solid understanding of Canadian and American applicable regulations, legislation, common law, policies and procedures in Information Security, including Privacy Acts and Human Rights Bill of Charter
  • Change management certification or specialized training (ADKAR or Harvard Business) PLUS application of knowledge in at least 4 organization wide change efforts
  • Project Management designation (an asset) and/or a minimum of 5 years managing projects requiring collaborative action of influence, without positional power
  • Proven critical thinking for on the go problem solving
  • Proven strong influencing and negotiation skills, strong consultative abilities with proven ability to foster an environment of positive engagement and trust
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through diplomacy as dealing with a diverse group of individuals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
