Kids Cancer Care, Close to our Hearts

Kids Cancer Care is one of the largest childhood cancer research funders in Canada. The foundation offers year-round, summer camp outreach programs, and services to Alberta families. They are dedicated to supporting the entire continuum of childhood cancer, fighting the disease on all fronts, with laughter at camp, the best treatments at the hospital, innovative science in the lab, and brighter futures through education support and post-secondary scholarships.

The Volker Stevin Social Committee

All hands on deck towards community growth and success

Volker Stevin has an active social committee run by employees who share a passion for helping our community and creating a more engaging work environment. The social committee enlists participation from our employees to give back to the communities in which we live and work. They also create engagement and contribute to our family culture by planning employee only events such as Stampede bar-b-ques, team building outings, and potlucks. The social committee is fully funded and supported by the company. Our Recent Initiatives include:

The Calgary Foodbank relieves food insecurity, and provides support for clients who are experiencing emergency situations. On an annual basis, Volker Stevin employees are proud to volunteer at the Calgary Foodbank warehouse and distribution centers. Our teams help with sorting non-perishable items, and building and distributing food hampers to Calgary Foodbank clients.

The Animal Rescue Transfer Society is a niche rescue organization, funded entirely on donations that focuses on finding care for senior cats and dogs. As animal lovers, Volker Stevin employees are committed to supporting this charitable organization each Christmas season. We are very proud that we are making a difference in the lives of our furry community members as well.

The Mustard Seed is a non-profit organization that cares for the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness and poverty by providing emergency shelter, food, clothing, hot showers, and hygiene supplies. Volker Stevin employees have volunteered alongside the Mustard Seed kitchen team to prepare, and serve the evening meal to their guests.

Women Building Futures offers programs and support services allowing women to explore, train, and build careers that pay above a living wage. Volker Stevin Canada is proud to partner with this inspirational organization supporting women in the workplace.

“I wanted to take a minute to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who took part in organizing, purchasing, planning or donating towards the fundraising that was done to support all our women this holiday season. Today I got to personally hand out 4 gifts to the children in our housing unit and a grocery gift card to their mothers. Additionally we gave a gift card to the rest of our tenants currently living with us. The smiles, words, and tears that I saw today was beyond heartwarming and this is because of all your kind souls. SAIT Scholarships

Since 2014, Volker Stevin has sponsored two student awards applicable to the SAIT Civil Engineering Technology Program in the School of Construction.

Our commitment to student success and this awards program has eased the financial burden of higher education and provides recognition, confidence and motivation for individuals who strive for excellence.

Enrolled in the 3rd Semester
Financial need – 30%
Academic achievement (minimum GPA of 3.0) – 40%
Leadership – 30%
Must be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant
