Lakes District Maintenance (2016) Inc. is seeking an experienced Labor Relations / Human Resources Manager. This position serves as a liaison between employees, the union, and the company. Representing the company, this position will work toward building strong and productive relationships with union representatives and to help ensure a healthy and strong relationship between all parties. Although specializing in labour relations, this position will also be accountable for all areas of personnel management.

Primary Objectives:

  • Responsible for delivering core HR services to all employees at LDM and NAPA Auto Parts Store. 
  • Working with management and the union representatives to develop an employee-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, and high performance. 
  • Maintain ongoing, complete and timely communication with the management team, union representatives, and other stakeholders. 
  • Benchmarking and measuring effectiveness of processes to help support all employees. 
  • Protect the interests of employees and the company in accordance with company policies, the Collective Agreement, and governmental laws and regulations. 
  • Practice discretion and the utmost confidentiality on all internal operations and communications. 
  • Present a professional image and demeanor with internal and external customers always.

The Ideal Candidate for this position will possess the following:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in labour relations; related to the private sector including negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and leadership.
  • HR Certificate, Diploma, Degree, or in the process of obtaining
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (MS Office Suite)
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Word with an eye for detail and form, the ability to format and re-format letters, contracts, forms, and memos with ease
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Excel with an eye for detail and form, the ability to build spread sheets using formulas, pivot tables, and producing graphs
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in PowerPoint with the ability to utilize most of the software’s resources for a professional and impactful presentation.
  • Ability to operate office equipment (scanner, printer, copier etc.)
  • Experience with a Human Resources Information System {HRIS}, an asset
  • Experience with a Learning Management System {LMS}, an asset

  • Out-of-town travel may be required on occasion
