​​Reporting to the Foreman, the Track Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a track loader. The operator will perform assigned duties to ensure that completed work meets the standards set by Volker Stevin Contracting Ltd., adheres to company policies and procedures, and complies with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations and contract specifications.

How You’ll Add Value

  • Use the track loader to backfill trenches, level soil, load trucks, haul aggregates, and move rock/debris
  • Operate the track loader within an active site with other heavy equipment and ground personnel, maintaining awareness of surroundings
  • Operate a track loader and other heavy equipment safely and appropriately
  • Perform pre-operational/safety checks and conduct routine cleaning and maintenance of the equipment
  • Follow supervisor instructions regarding the required work area
  • Possess a strong understanding of ground disturbance
  • Operate other heavy equipment and perform construction-related duties as required
  • Have knowledge of underground utility construction materials, processes, and industry requirements
  • Understand computerized controls and electronics
  • Actively contribute to Volker Stevin Contracting safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

Qualifications & Experience

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of experience in the underground utility construction industry
  • 2+ years of experience operating a track loader
  • 2+ years of skid steer (ISO controls) experience may be considered
  • Valid Ground Disturbance certificate
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
  • Highschool diploma or GED equivalent is preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of underground utility installation, processes, materials, industry standards, and OH&S requirements
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying at least 40lbs on an occasional basis
